Nicosia (Cyprus), 24 Apr. (LaPresse) – "We know that Europe needs Syria just as much as Syria needs Europe. This is very important. It is inevitable, because it is also necessary to ensure global security and supply chains. Nevertheless, I would like to call on the international community to take responsibility for all Israeli aggression of every kind and in every territory that affects our lands and our territories." This was stated by the Syrian President, Ahmad al-Shara, at a press conference alongside EU leaders following the informal European Council in Nicosia, Cyprus. "And returning to the 1974 resolution, it is very important that the essence of the recovery also has an impact on regional stability for the partnership with Europe. That is why Europe’s commitment to Syria’s stability and security will inevitably lead to halting Israel’s aggression in Syrian territories and putting an end to the violation of Syria’s sovereignty. For our part, we wish to confirm that Syria, which was once a theatre of conflict, is now working for its people and wishes for its people to also be a bridge and the main pillar for the solution. Geography unites us and the partnership enshrines this," he remarked.
