Milan, 15 May (LaPresse) – ‘This visit is historic and landmark. Together, we have established a new framework for a constructive, strategic and stable China-US relationship.’ This was stated by Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to CCTV, referring to US President Donald Trump’s visit to China. Little information was released regarding any agreements whilst Donald Trump and Xi were having lunch behind closed doors at Zhongnanhai in Beijing, but Xi spoke of a positive turning point in relations between the two countries. ‘The visit is also useful for promoting mutual understanding, deepening trust in one another and enhancing the well-being of the citizens of both countries,’ Xi added. The Chinese leader stated that both countries should implement the ‘important consensus’ reached during Trump’s visit and keep the relationship on the right track. ‘With Donald Trump, we have reached important common understandings on maintaining stable economic and trade ties, expanding practical cooperation in various fields, and addressing each other’s concerns in an appropriate manner,’ Xi went on to emphasise.
