Milan, 14 April (LaPresse) – The regions of Piedmont, Lombardy and Liguria, together with the cities of Turin, Milan and Genoa, have announced the launch of a joint initiative aimed at assessing the possibility of submitting a unified bid from north-west Italy to host a future edition of the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. The organising bodies met for an initial working session, formally launching the discussions and leaving the schedule for future meetings open. The initiative stems from a desire to capitalise on the sporting, infrastructural and international strengths of three closely interconnected regions, capable of pooling expertise, sports facilities, transport infrastructure and proven experience in organising major events.
