Rome, Apr 14 (LaPresse) – Following the death of Giacomo Bongiorni in Massa, M5S, PD, IV and AVS have requested an urgent briefing in the Chamber of Deputies from Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi on security policies. “This issue deserves a serious discussion, not only in terms of timing but also in terms of approach,” explained M5S MP Riccardo Ricciardi. “We live in a country where there is a security problem that starts in our homes with domestic violence, reaches our schools, there is a security problem in workplaces, and there is a security problem in our streets. So do we want to address it without leaving it to propaganda, but instead with serious questions?”
“We must not and cannot presume to eliminate violence from this world, but we must have the ambition to be able to look ourselves in the mirror, all of us as a political class, in light of what has happened, because today we must all ask for forgiveness, because the most tragic aspect of this story is that Giacomo died because he did not turn away,” Ricciardi added. The request for a briefing was also supported by the PD, IV and AVS.
