Frankfurt (Germany), 6 May (LaPresse) – The German trade union Ver.di has rejected UniCredit’s takeover of Commerzbank. “We are doing so in view of the impact on the German economy and, above all, on jobs in Germany, both at HypoVereinsbank and at Commerzbank,” Jan Duscheck, head of Ver.di’s national banking division, told the Rheinische Post. ‘Major investors, particularly the federal government with its 12% stake, now find themselves having to manage German small and medium-sized enterprises, millions of private customers and, last but not least, thousands of employees,’ he explained.
