Brussels, 15 June (LaPresse) – “We must ensure that the fighting in Lebanon also comes to an end, that Hezbollah no longer attacks Israel, and that Israel no longer bombs Beirut.” This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on his arrival at the Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg. “We will continue to play our diplomatic part, and are also ready to ensure a presence in Lebanon to help strengthen the organisation and training of the Lebanese armed forces, which, in our view, must have full control of Lebanese territory, which cannot be in a part controlled by Hezbollah,” he added. Tajani then reiterated that Italy will continue to play its part in Lebanon through its presence in UNIFIL but “also in the bilateral mission, namely that for the training of the Lebanese armed forces”.
