Rome, 18 May (LaPresse) – Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has asked the Israeli Government for assurances regarding the treatment of Italian activists taking part in the Global Solidarity Flotilla mission, who may be intercepted by the IDF off the coast of Cyprus. Tajani, according to the Foreign Ministry, has asked the Crisis Unit and the Italian embassies in Tel Aviv, Ankara and Nicosia to take all necessary steps to safeguard the safety of the Italians and assist them in the event of a landing. The Italian Ambassador in Tel Aviv made further contact with the Israeli authorities this morning to ensure the safety of the Italians. The Foreign Ministry continues to monitor developments in the situation.
