Rome, 27 April (LaPresse) – Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem has reiterated his refusal to engage in direct negotiations with Israel. The secretary-general of the Lebanese Shia militia stated that direct negotiations are “out of the question” and that his group will continue to resist and respond to Israeli “aggression”. This was reported by Al Jazeera. “We will not lay down our arms, and our defence and forces on the ground have demonstrated our readiness for confrontation,” Qassem declared. “The Lebanese authorities have rushed into making a pointless and gratuitous concession, and we categorically reject direct negotiations with Israel. The authorities must halt direct negotiations and pursue the path of indirect negotiations,” Qassem added.
