Brussels, Apr 21 (LaPresse) – "As regards" the proposal to suspend the EU-Israel association agreement, "no decision will be taken today, also because the conditions are not in place, neither numerically nor politically. I believe it is better to sanction individuals responsible, I am thinking of violent settlers, to increase sanctions and strengthen sanctions, but I do not believe that blocking a trade agreement is a useful tool, because it ends up affecting the general Israeli population, which often has nothing to do with the events that are then attributed to the government". This is what Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated upon his arrival at the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg. "So we remain strongly doubtful about this, but no initiative will be taken; I believe we have a position similar to that of the Federal Republic of Germany," he added.
