Rome, 20 Apr. (LaPresse) – According to local media, a Jerusalem court has granted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s request to cancel his testimony in this week’s corruption trial. This is reported by Al Jazeera. Netanyahu’s lawyer reportedly cited “security and diplomatic” reasons for the Prime Minister’s request. The trial is currently in the cross-examination phase of Netanyahu’s testimony. He is currently on trial on three counts of corruption dating back to 2019. This is the latest in a series of postponements in the trials, with his appearances having been delayed several times. The postponements and interruptions have often been linked to events in Israel’s wars against Gaza, Lebanon and Iran, with Netanyahu using them as justification for avoiding attendance at the hearings.
