Palermo, 23 May (LaPresse) – "I see myself as a magistrate first and foremost, even before being a minister, so this day is particularly moving for me. Both Giovanni Falcone and I risked our lives: I did so whilst investigating the Red Brigades, and he whilst investigating the Mafia. Sadly, he sacrificed his life for an ideal that belongs to us all: safeguarding the state and the safety of citizens.” These were the words of Justice Minister Carlo Nordio during his visit to the Museum of the Present at Palazzo Jung in Palermo, as part of the commemoration of the 34th anniversary of the Capaci massacre, in which Judge Giovanni Falcone, his wife Francesca Morvillo and their bodyguards were killed.
