Milan, June 2 (LaPresse) – The Valdostano Mountain Rescue Service is currently conducting a rescue operation on the Dente del Gigante, in the northern part of the Mont Blanc massif, to retrieve two Polish climbers, one of whom was struck in the shoulder by lightning. The two reported that they are in good health but unable to continue. Due to adverse weather conditions, it is currently impossible to deploy a helicopter. A team composed of rescuers from the Valdostano Mountain Rescue Service and the Guardia di Finanza Mountain Rescue Service made an initial approach via the Skyway cable car and is now stationed at the Torino Refuge. A rescue using mountaineering techniques is possible, but at this time it would not be safe to reach the two climbers.
