Milan, 17 May (LaPresse) – “We know the path of this journey of ascent. We find it in Jesus, in the gift of his life, in his examples and in his teachings, just as we see it traced out in the Virgin Mary and in the saints: those whom the Church offers us as universal models and those – as Pope Francis loved to call them – ‘ next-door neighbours', with whom we share our daily lives – fathers, mothers, grandparents, people of every age and condition – who, with joy and commitment, sincerely strive to live according to the Gospel." Pope Leo XIV said this during the recitation of the Regina Caeli before the Angelus. “With them, with their support and thanks to their prayers, we too can learn to ascend day by day towards Heaven, making the object of our thoughts, as St Paul says, ‘whatever is true, noble, just, pure, lovely and admirable’ and putting into practice, with God’s help, what we have ‘heard and seen’, allowing the divine life we received at Baptism to grow within us and around us—a life that constantly draws us upwards, towards the Father—and spreading throughout the world the precious fruits of communion and peace,” he added.
