Milan, 15 June (LaPresse/AP) – On Monday, a large-scale Russian attack on Ukraine killed five rescue workers in Kharkiv and injured at least 20 people in the capital Kyiv, whilst the raids set residential buildings ablaze and caused a fire at one of the country’s most important places of worship. The rescue workers were killed in Kharkiv by a second Russian attack whilst fighting a fire caused by a previous strike, said Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko. At least five other emergency service workers were injured. A series of powerful explosions echoed across Kyiv, with a barrage of ballistic missiles followed by Shahed drones, as many people sought shelter underground and the authorities urged residents to take cover. “Kyiv is under the main fire. There is significant damage to civilian infrastructure,” said Klymenko. Twenty people, including a child, required medical assistance in the capital, said Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.
