Iran, Obama: ‘It is unlikely that a new deal will be better than the 2015 agreement’

Milan, 14 June (LaPresse) – Former US President Barack Obama has stated that a new deal with Iran is unlikely to be better than the 2015 nuclear agreement, known as the JCPOA. “It is unlikely that any deal would be significantly different or represent a substantial improvement on the original agreement, which had worked for a long time before the US withdrew,” Obama said in an interview with ABC News. “I hope the bombing stops and that ordinary people no longer suffer because of the war,” he added, “the idea that we can solve problems through bullying or bombing can sometimes seem tempting” but diplomacy could produce agreements that “don’t solve 100% of the problem, but 80%, 90%”, whilst avoiding war.
