Brussels, June 8 (LaPresse) – Regarding Russia, "last week we had a discussion with the 27 member states on the substance in preparation for negotiations and on what our demands are. I think this is a key point. Whoever goes to talk to them will also have to put these demands on the table. At the same time, I also believe that the Russians are not yet ready. So we also need more strategic patience so that it is not us making our demands, but Russia speaking with us, to end this war starting with a ceasefire," said EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas upon arriving at the informal Defence Council in Cyprus. "We are seeing – she added – an escalation in their attacks. They should first of all stop with a ceasefire in order to sit at the negotiating table. But at the same time, we also see movements within Russia that indicate they are not happy that this war continues, and that is why we must exert more pressure on them and also increase our support for Ukraine."
