France: Singer Patrick Bruel arrested on charges of sexual assault

Rome, 8 June (LaPresse) – Singer Patrick Bruel was arrested this morning in connection with allegations of sexual assault made against him. This has been reported by the French media. The ongoing investigation – as explained by the public prosecutor’s office – “concerns the allegations made by three women who accuse Bruel of sexual assault and attempted rape” which took place between 1997 and 2001, as well as “other allegations of sexual assault and harassment made by other women in France and Belgium”. According to Franceinfo, Bruel has been questioned at the headquarters of the First District of the Paris Judicial Police since 8.30 this morning. Pre-trial detention may last for 24 hours and is renewable.
