Frankfurt (Germany), June 3 (LaPresse) – The new Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar has firmly condemned Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, describing Moscow as “a security risk for all of Europe.” In an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Magyar stressed that Ukraine is the victim of the conflict and has the right to its territorial integrity, marking a clear break from the previous line of the Orbán government. Despite this stance, the prime minister confirmed that Hungary will continue to import oil and other energy sources from Russia due to the country’s strong structural dependence. According to Magyar, the energy transition cannot take place quickly without jeopardising national economic stability. The head of government also indicated a willingness to open dialogue with European partners to find shared solutions on energy and security, avoiding sudden breaks while maintaining coordination with the European Union.
