Milan, June 2 (LaPresse) – Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated today that the United States supports the decision by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to strike the Dahiyeh neighborhood in Beirut should attacks by the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah against northern Israel continue. “The Americans have endorsed this principle and have informed the Lebanese government and all relevant parties: Israeli communities will be matched by similar communities in Beirut,” Katz said, adding: "At the request of the United States, until yesterday the Israeli Defense Forces refrained from carrying out major strikes in Beirut… due to U.S. efforts to reach an agreement with Iran."
