Malta, Prime Minister Abela: "We have made history, a victory for the whole country"

Milan, May 31 (LaPresse) – "We have made history. This is a victory for all of Malta. We keep the national positive spirit alive." This is what Maltese Prime Minister Robert Abela, of the Labour Party, said, confirming his party’s win in yesterday’s early elections. Local media report that Abela also promised he would be a prime minister for everyone. For the Labour Party, this is the fourth consecutive victory in general elections, securing a fourth term in government. The Labour Party has been in power since 2013. Abela has been prime minister since January 2020, when he succeeded Joseph Muscat. A 48-year-old lawyer, Abela is expected to be sworn in on Monday and form his new government for a five-year term.
