Eurovision: pro-Palestine protests in Vienna: ‘No platform for genocide’

Vienna (Austria), 16 May (LaPresse) – Street protests are taking place in Vienna against Israel’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest on the day of the final. However, this year’s demonstrations have seen lower turnout compared to those held during the 2024 contest in Malmö, Sweden, and last year’s contest in Basel, Switzerland. Pro-Palestinian groups organised an open-air concert on Friday under the slogan ‘No stage for genocide’. “Inviting Israel onto a stage as prestigious as that of the Eurovision Song Contest is an affront to all people who believe in humanity, love and solidarity,” said Congolese-Austrian artist Patrick Bongola, one of the organisers.
