Milan, 14 May (LaPresse) – The deployment of a US Army brigade to Europe, which was already underway, has been suspended. This was confirmed by a US defence official to Stars and Stripes. A week ago, the 2nd Armoured Brigade of the 1st Cavalry Division had lowered its flag at Fort Hood, Texas, marking the start of a nine-month mission aimed at deterring Russian aggression in Europe. Nearly 4,000 soldiers from the ‘Black Jack’ brigade were due to take up positions in Poland and other areas of NATO’s eastern flank. However, the plan has been put on hold, despite the fact that most of the unit’s equipment has already been shipped to Europe.
