Milan, 14 May (LaPresse) – Maldivian media report that the first body of the five Italian tourists who died whilst diving was recovered at around 6.13 pm (3.13 pm in Italy) by divers from a boat involved in the search operation. The body has now been taken to the Fulidhoo Medical Centre on the atoll. “The body was found at a depth of around 60 metres inside a cave. It is believed that the remaining four divers are inside the cave, which is about 200 feet long (i.e. about 60 metres, ed.)," stated the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) website, which notes that this is a very dangerous and high-risk operation. Additional divers and specialist equipment from the MNDF Coast Guard have been deployed to the area. It should be noted that recreational diving in the country is permitted to a maximum depth of 30 metres.
