Ukraine, Zelensky: "Incessant attacks from Moscow overnight."

Milan, May 7 (LaPresse/AP) – "The Russian army attacked Ukraine in every way possible: with attack drones, missile launches, bombings and assaults along the front line, and with aerial bombs. Between midnight and morning alone, there have already been around 100 attack drones, dozens of assault actions on key axes of the front, as well as dozens of air strikes." Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote this in a post on X. "Significant damage to civilian infrastructure has been recorded in the Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, and Kherson regions. There have also been attacks on locomotives and infrastructure in Ukrzaliznytsia in several regions. Ukraine's energy system remains a constant target of Russia," Zelensky added. The Ukrainian president then reiterated the groundlessness of the cessation of hostilities: "All this shows that Russia is not seriously considering a ceasefire and that the only thing that continues to worry the Russian leadership is a short-lived silence in Red Square. Russia continues to kill people despite being completely irrationally obsessed with a few hours of silence in one part of Moscow," he said, referring to the square that will host the Victory Day parade on Saturday, May 9. Finally, Zelensky stressed that Ukraine will act in a way that "mirrors" "Russian attacks." "In a mirror-image response to Russian attacks, we will continue our long-range sanctions. And in response to Russia's willingness to move toward diplomacy, we will proceed along the path of diplomacy. We need concrete steps to end this war, and peace will still be achieved – we are working towards that. The only question is: how much time will be wasted because of Russia's madness," he concluded in the post.
