Rome, 5 May (LaPresse) – The US-flagged vessel “Alliance Fairfax”, operated by a subsidiary of the Danish shipping giant Maersk, left the Gulf yesterday via the Strait of Hormuz under US escort. This was reported by the BBC, citing a statement from the shipping company. Also yesterday, on social media, US Central Command explained that American forces are actively assisting efforts to restore commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz: “As a first step, two US-flagged merchant ships have successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz,” it wrote on X. The Iranian news agency Tasnim has denied the announcement by the Danish shipping giant Maersk that one of its ships had passed through the Strait of Hormuz under US escort. According to Tasnim, “The reports are inaccurate. No reliable maritime monitoring website has published such a report, and Maersk has not issued any official statement confirming the passage.”
