USA, Hegseth will be questioned by Congress: first time since the start of the war in Iran

Washington (USA), April 29 (LaPresse) – Today US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth will have to answer questions from Congress for the first time since the Trump administration launched the war against Iran. The hearing before the House Armed Services Committee is being held to discuss the administration’s military budget proposal for 2027, which would raise defence spending to a historic level of 1.5 trillion dollars. Hegseth and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine, are expected to stress the need for more drones, missile defence systems and warships. Democrats will likely focus on the rising costs of the war in Iran, the severe depletion of critical US ammunition, and the bombing of a school in Iran that killed children.
