Milan, 24 April (LaPresse) – Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani held a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. ‘Regarding the conflict in Iran, I emphasised the importance of a swift resumption of negotiations in Islamabad to achieve a lasting peaceful solution,’ Tajani stated in a post on social media platform X, ‘I had also discussed this with Minister Araghchi, highlighting the need for an agreement that ensures the exclusively civilian nature of Iran’s nuclear programme.’ “The swift and safe reopening of the Strait of Hormuz remains a priority, to avoid further global economic repercussions,” he added, “Italy is ready to play its part, contributing to multilateral initiatives for maritime security and freedom of navigation.”
