Milan, 14 April (LaPresse) – “The tide has turned,” citizens have begun to realise that “illiberal populism does not solve problems.” This is what Daniel Cohn-Bendit, the historic leader of the French 1968 movement and later head of the European Greens, said in an interview with La Repubblica. “Orbán and those like him no longer work. Magyar has been very astute,‘ he says. ’He is not a man of the left, but he is a democrat. He is a modern conservative, in favour of liberal democracy.‘ Cohn-Bendit explains that the tide has turned because ’populism no longer works. You have seen it in Italy too; Meloni lost the referendum. There is a general tide against the populists. Perhaps not against the right, but against the populists."
