Rome, 12 Apr. (LaPresse) – All three major Israeli television channels are reporting that the IDF is preparing for a new conflict with Iran, following the collapse of ceasefire talks between the United States and the Islamic Republic. This morning, the news website Ynet reported that the Chief of Staff of the Israeli Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, had ordered the army to move to a ‘state of maximum readiness’ and to prepare for a resumption of hostilities with Iran. Channel 12 reports this evening, without citing any sources, that the Israeli Defence Forces are not only preparing for a renewed conflict with Iran, but are also preparing for a potential surprise Iranian attack on Israel. Meanwhile, the public broadcaster Kan quotes a “senior defence official” as saying that “Israel is interested in resuming the war against Iran”, as the conflict ended “too soon, without sufficient pressure having been exerted on Iran regarding the nuclear issue and ballistic missiles”.
