Budapest (Hungary), 12 Apr. (LaPresse/AP) – Hungarians are heading to the polls on Sunday in what many consider to be the most important election of the year in Europe, a vote that could bring down the populist Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, an ally of US President Donald Trump, after 16 years in power. Polling stations opened at 6am local time and are due to close at 7pm. Orbán and his main challenger, Péter Magyar, are expected to cast their votes during the morning.
