USA, Trump: "Project presented for a new Arc de Triomphe"

Washington (USA), Apr. 11 (LaPresse) – With a post on Truth, Donald Trump announces the "official" presentation to the Commission of Fine Arts of the "designs and plans" for "what will be the largest and most beautiful Arc de Triomphe in the entire world." The construction of the arch, writes the US president, "will be a wonderful addition to the Washington D.C. area, which all Americans will be able to enjoy for many decades to come!" As reported on Friday by some US media, the 76-meter-high Arc de Triomphe should rise at one end of the Arlington Memorial Bridge, near the Potomac River. The drawings have been submitted to the Commission of Fine Arts, a federal body that Trump has filled with his allies. The Commission will examine the project during next week’s meeting. The president has proposed the construction of the arch, which would rise on a roundabout in Washington, near the border with Virginia and opposite the Lincoln Memorial, on the other side of the river, as a way to celebrate the 250th anniversary of America and to consolidate his presidential legacy. The renderings show the arch topped by two eagles and a golden winged angel, with an appearance that somewhat recalls the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The words "One Nation Under God" appear above the arch on one side, while on the other the inscription "Liberty and Justice for All" appears: these are the only texts visible in the entire project. The designs of the arch have been attributed to Harrison Design, an architecture firm based in Washington.
