Washington (USA), Apr. 11 (LaPresse) – CNN, citing three "sources familiar with intelligence assessments", reported that, based on US intelligence data, China is preparing to provide new air defense systems to Iran in the coming weeks. CNN stated that there are indications that Beijing is seeking to route shipments through third countries to conceal their origin. US and Chinese sources have not yet commented on the matter. The broadcaster, citing anonymous sources, reported that Beijing is preparing to transfer portable anti-aircraft missile systems known as Manpads. A spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in Washington, also reported by CNN, said: "China has never provided weapons to any party in the conflict; the information in question is false." “As a responsible major country, China consistently fulfills its international obligations. We urge the United States to refrain from making groundless accusations, drawing malicious connections and engaging in sensationalism; we hope that the relevant parties will do more to help reduce tensions.”
