Brussels, 9 April (LaPresse) – "We have a reaction to the alleged revelations contained in that further piece of investigative journalism to which you refer, which highlight the worrying possibility that a government of a Member State is coordinating with Russia, thereby actively working against the security and interests of the EU and all its citizens. This is extremely worrying and the government of the Member State in question must provide explanations as a matter of urgency. President von der Leyen will also raise the issue at EU leaders’ level.” So said the European Commission’s chief spokesperson, Paula Pinho, during the daily press briefing, responding to a question regarding reports concerning the Hungarian Foreign Minister, Peter Szijjarto. According to various investigations, the minister, a supporter of Orbán, is alleged to have maintained constant contact and passed on documents from EU leaders to his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov.
