Milan, 8 April (LaPresse) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a statement released by his office, says that the two-week ceasefire agreed by the US and Iran does not include Lebanon. His statement contrasts with earlier reports from Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, who in a post on X spoke of “an immediate ceasefire everywhere, including Lebanon and elsewhere”. Netanyahu said: "Israel supports President Trump’s decision to suspend attacks against Iran for two weeks, provided that Iran immediately reopens the Strait (of Hormuz, ed.) and ceases all attacks against the United States, Israel and the countries of the region. Israel also supports the United States’ commitment to ensuring that Iran no longer poses a nuclear, missile and terrorist threat to America, Israel, Iran’s Arab neighbours and the world. The United States has informed Israel of its commitment to achieving these objectives – shared by the United States, Israel and Israel’s regional allies – in the forthcoming negotiations. The two-week ceasefire does not include Lebanon.”
