Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Apr. 6 (LaPresse) – Iran and the United States have received a draft proposal calling for a 45-day ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz as a possible solution to end the war. This was reported to the Associated Press by two Middle Eastern officials speaking on condition of anonymity. The proposal comes from Egyptian, Pakistani, and Turkish mediators working to halt the fighting. They hope that 45 days will provide sufficient time for in-depth talks between the countries to reach a permanent ceasefire. Iran and the United States have not yet responded to the proposal, which was sent late Sunday evening to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, the officials said. It is not yet clear whether the parties will accept the conditions proposed by the mediators. Iran has reiterated that it will continue fighting until it receives financial compensation and a guarantee that it will not be attacked again. U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to bomb Iranian bridges and power plants this week. The news site Axios first reported the terms of the mediators’ plan.
