Washington (USA), 5 April (LaPresse/AP) – The US Secret Service is investigating reports of gunshots fired overnight in Washington near Lafayette Park, which lies opposite the White House. No injuries have been reported and no suspects were found following a search of the park and surrounding area after midnight, the agency said in an online post. President Donald Trump is spending the weekend at the White House; activities have continued as normal, but security in the area has been stepped up, according to the Secret Service. The park has been cordoned off for several weeks for renovation work. The Secret Service said it was working with the District of Columbia Police and the US National Park Police.
