Washington (USA), Apr. 2 (LaPresse) – In his message to the nation, Donald Trump claims “rapid, decisive and overwhelming victories” by the United States in the conflict with Iran, arguing that the enemy has suffered unprecedented losses in just a few weeks and indicating that military operations are now close to completion. The president states that Washington is “on track to complete all military objectives”, setting a two-to-three-week timeframe for the end of the conflict and reiterating that “we are close” to concluding operations. Trump emphasizes that an agreement has not yet been reached with the new Iranian leadership, described as less radical and more reasonable, but warns that otherwise the United States is ready to strike strategic infrastructure with extreme force, including power plants and, if necessary, also oil facilities. The president also maintains that regime change was not an initial objective, but effectively occurred after the elimination of Iran’s historic leaders. He then reiterates that the United States does not depend on the Middle East and that its presence in the region is solely linked to supporting its allies. Trump therefore invites the countries that use the Strait of Hormuz to guarantee its security by taking a leading role, with American support. Finally, he predicts that once the war is over, the strait will naturally reopen, favoring the resumption of Iranian oil exports and a rapid improvement in energy and financial markets.
