Rome, 29 March (LaPresse) – Iran has not yet provided an official response to US President Donald Trump’s 15-point ceasefire proposal, as it seeks international guarantees that the negotiations are not a deceptive ploy. This is reported by Channel 12, citing sources familiar with the matter. According to the Israeli broadcaster, Iran is seeking to broaden the framework to include not only the Gulf States, but also other players, notably Russia and China. This is reportedly the reason for the delay in responding. At present, Israeli and American officials are reportedly discussing coordinated military operations in the event that talks between Washington and Iran fail, and some disagreements are emerging regarding the operational approach to be adopted whilst the negotiations are underway. Israel is seeking to persuade the United States that, even whilst awaiting the conclusion of the negotiations, it is essential to continue striking Tehran’s infrastructure, whilst the Americans oppose this position, fearing that such attacks could jeopardise the diplomatic process.
