US: Bill Cosby ordered to pay $19 million to a woman he sexually assaulted in 1972

Milan, 24 March (LaPresse) – A civil jury in California has ordered Bill Cosby to pay $19.25 million in damages to Donna Motsinger, a former restaurant waitress who was sexually assaulted by the actor in 1972 after being drugged. The verdict, reached on the third day of deliberations, has further tarnished the reputation of Cosby, 88, once one of America’s most beloved actors and comedians, who has been overwhelmed in recent years by dozens of allegations from women accusing him of harassment and abuse. Cosby’s sole criminal conviction for sexual assault was overturned on procedural grounds in 2021, after the actor had served three years of a three-to-ten-year sentence in a maximum-security prison on the outskirts of Philadelphia.
