Rome, 20 March (LaPresse) – King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia Ortiz arrive at the Vatican for an audience with Pope Leo XIV. This is the first meeting of the Spanish royal couple since the Pope’s enthronement ceremony. The King and Queen arrived with their entourage in the Courtyard of San Damaso at the Apostolic Palace, where they were welcomed by the Regent of the Prefecture of the Papal Household, Monsignor Leonardo Sapienza. After passing the Swiss Guard guard of honour, exchanging greetings with His Holiness’s Gentlemen and waving to journalists and photographers, the royals entered the Apostolic Palace. Here, the Pope will receive them in the Sala del Tronetto before beginning their conversation in the private library. Queen Letizia chose to exercise the ‘privilege of white’ for her dress, traditionally granted only to certain Catholic sovereigns around the world for meetings with the Holy Father.
