Iran, Kallas: “It is not our war, objectives unclear”

Brussels, Mar 16 (LaPresse) – “The objectives of this military action must be defined by those who started this war. Europe is not part of this war. We did not start this war; the war and the political objectives are unclear. Naturally, we are talking with different parties,” said EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas at the press conference following the Foreign Affairs Council. “But you know, with wars it is easy to start, very difficult to stop, and the situation becomes very chaotic. It gets out of hand,” she added. “What we are seeing now in terms of economic consequences is that 20% of the world’s energy, I mean oil and gas, passes through the Strait of Hormuz. It is affecting Asia. Also, most fertilizers pass through the Strait of Hormuz. It is affecting Asia, but also Africa: if we don’t have fertilizers this year, there will be a famine next year. So this is a very, very large war, with many consequences, and that is why we are also reaching out to our partners. So we are working on it.”
