Milan, 13 March (LaPresse/AP) – NATO defences intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Iran over Turkey. This is the third incident of this type since the start of the war. The Ministry of Defence in Ankara stated that the missile was destroyed by NATO air defences deployed in the eastern Mediterranean. Residents of the southern city of Adana reported hearing a loud explosion and sirens at the Incirlik air base, used by US forces, in the early hours of Friday. No casualties were reported. In recent days, NATO has deployed an additional Patriot air defence system in the south-eastern province of Malatya, where the Kurecik radar station is located.
