Turin, 10 March (LaPresse) – Turkey has announced that a US Patriot air defence system has been deployed in a south-eastern province of the country as part of NATO measures for “enhanced air and missile defence”. “In view of recent developments in our region, we are taking the necessary measures to protect our borders and airspace, and we are in consultation with NATO and our allies,” the Ankara Ministry of Defence said on X. ‘In addition to the national measures we have already implemented, NATO has strengthened air and missile defence measures. Within this framework, a Patriot system is currently located in Malatya and is being prepared for operational readiness to support the protection of our airspace,’ it added.
