Milan, Mar. 7 (LaPresse/AP) – The Israel Defense Forces said it struck Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran because it was being used to help transport weapons and money to Iran-backed militant groups across the Middle East, particularly Hezbollah in Lebanon. Israel said it destroyed 16 aircraft used to transport weapons as part of a broad wave of overnight attacks on Tehran. The strike also reportedly destroyed several Iranian fighter jets. Iranian state media have not yet confirmed the attack.
