Frankfurt (Germany), 24 February (LaPresse) – The foreign ministers of Germany, France and Poland have reiterated their support for Ukraine on the fourth anniversary of Russia's war of aggression. ‘We must achieve a lasting and just peace,’ wrote Johann Wadephul, Jean-Noel Barrot and Radoslaw Sikorski in a joint article for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. According to the three ministers, ‘Ukraine can only achieve this peace from a position of strength. Therefore, Europe's willingness to support it remains unwavering. And therefore, we will continue to increase pressure on Russia.’ Specifically, the three ministers wrote that billions in Russian assets should remain frozen. They reiterated their support for Ukraine's accession to the EU and called for a special tribunal ‘to bring war criminals to justice.’ Wadephul, Barrot and Sikorski emphasise that Europe has become more prepared for the threat. Their guest article in the FAZ states: ‘After four years of war, not only is Ukraine a different country, but Europe is also different from before. It is a stronger and more resilient Europe. A Europe that knows the value of freedom and is ready to defend it.’
