Jerusalem, 23 Feb. (LaPresse) – According to the Israeli newspaper Maariv, the Israeli security cabinet meeting held last night in Jerusalem “extensively” addressed the direction of the ongoing talks between Iran and the United States. Ministers were reportedly told that Trump is pursuing a phased agreement, as he did in Gaza and elsewhere, with the most urgent issue – the Iranian nuclear program – to be handled in the first phase. Issues related to Iranian ballistic missiles and support for armed terrorist groups, according to the American president’s idea, would instead be dealt with at a later stage. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to convene another security meeting today in Jerusalem with his close aides and several ministers.
