Rome, 11 February (LaPresse) – James Van Der Beek, famous for his starring role in the series Dawson's Creek, has died at the age of 48 after a long battle with cancer. The actor, also known for his performance in Varsity Blues, had stage three colorectal cancer. He leaves behind six children. The announcement was made by his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, in a message posted on Instagram. ‘Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed away peacefully this morning,’ she wrote. ‘He faced his final days with courage, faith and dignity. There is so much to say about his wishes, his love for humanity and the value he placed on time. There will be a time for that. Now we only ask for respect and privacy as we mourn our beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend.’
