Turin, 9 February (LaPresse) – Fifty-three migrants, including two children, are dead or missing after a rubber boat carrying 55 people capsized off the Libyan coast. This was reported by the spokesperson for the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), affiliated with the United Nations. The shipwreck occurred north of Zuwara, Libya, on 6 February. During a search and rescue operation by the Libyan authorities, only two Nigerian women were saved. According to survivors, the boat – carrying migrants and refugees of African nationality – left Al-Zawiya, Libya, on the night of February. About six hours later, the boat capsized.
