Cairo (Egypt), 7 February (LaPresse/AP) – A drone attack launched by the notorious Rapid Support Forces paramilitary group struck a vehicle carrying displaced families in central Sudan, killing at least 24 people, including eight children. The attack took place near the town of Rahad, in North Kordofan province, according to the Sudan Doctors Network, which is monitoring the ongoing war in the country. The vehicle was transporting displaced persons fleeing the fighting in the Dubeiker area of North Kordofan, the group of doctors explained. Among the children killed were two infants, it added. The Sudan Doctors Network urged the international community and human rights organisations to ‘take immediate action to protect civilians and hold the RSF leadership directly responsible for these violations’. The RSF has not yet commented on the news. The paramilitary group has been at war with the Sudanese army for about three years for control of the country.
