Milan, 3 February (LaPresse) – Iranian police have arrested 139 foreign nationals in the central province of Yazd for their involvement in recent protests. This was reported by Tasnim, an agency linked to the Guardians. ‘During the investigation of recent cases of unrest, it was established that 139 of those arrested were foreign nationals,’ said Ahmad Negahban, provincial police chief. Negahban added that the detainees ‘played an active role in organising, inciting and directing acts of revolt’ and that in some cases they were in contact with networks outside Iran. The authorities did not identify the detainees or specify their origin.
